Clutter & Clarity

The Fun things about today's outfit:
1. Sweater - Thrifted and taken in. (Started pretty wide)
2. Button Up - Purchased in 2008 and worn 3 times before now.
3. Bracelet - Thrifted for $2
4. Shoes - Target

I am seriously intimidated at the thought of button up shirts. Is that weird? Probably, but still it remains my reality. I really only have 3 button up collared shirts. Yikes. I'm trying to make them work more often. This outfit shows some growth for me on this topic. And animal print? Really. This is a first. Sorry about all the pictures. I just couldn't pic my favs.

At work today something happened - after a long random conversation with my boss (on a broad range of life's miscellaneous topics). Today, I stopped working quite a few times to just look at my desk. Only thing was that I couldn't see my desk. It's covered in papers and notes and stick-its, and other misc. office supplies. It was time for a weekly desk face lift (and it's only Wednesday). So I went to work, tossing what could be tossed, filing what needed to be filed, reading resources I'd put off for later, sending emails I wrote stick-it reminders for, and sipping my water bottle (that's right, I'm still trekking away at my water drinking goal.) I've added things to my lists and crossed others off. I've made needed phone calls. Man, it feels good to be productive.

Here's the thing, I'm going home these days to an overflowing project bin that looks like an erupted clothing volcano in the middle of my living room, day old laundry still unfolded, a home-desk covered in coupons, neglected mail and random doodle papers, and a bed that hasn't been made since 1995 (exaggeration by 90%). Seems like the clutter has become a habit.

Let's make like a horse and yell WOOOOOOHH to life! Pull the reigns back and just survey the landscape for a minute. Get a clear picture of what needs to be done. And get to work. (FYI I have no clue about horses or riding, so I was winging it with that analogy)

I really need to remember what's important. I can't be going around acting like little things don't matter. Keepin it clean matters. I'm not saying that if your house isn't spotless, you're failing. I'm just saying I need to be putting out a bit more effort here.

Hebrews 6:19-20
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast,
and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner
has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever
according to the order of Melchizedek.

  2. dying over that necklace and your shoes! i'm wearing a really similar outfit today -- button down chambray + leopard cardi (but with black leggings and coral flats). you look so cute in a button down! and having the skill to take one in if you need is awesome, because that's often an issue with button downs. lovin' this outfit and your positive outlook, girl!
