Flip Flops Sometimes Have To Cut It.

The fun things about this outfit:
Shorts - Thrifted in 2006 and cut-off in 2012, Shirt - Thrifted & Refashioned, Flops - Old Navy

I know I'm not the only outfit blogger out there who thinks this.
Sometimes, ya just have to give in to a shorts and tank day. And to get really lazy, toss on some flippetty flops. We can't always be dresses and lovelies! But I say, whatever you wear, just own it! Be confident and be yourself!

You know what else I say. Summer rocks. My newest love is reading on the porch swing! Seriously. I'm loving it! And if you're a regular reader, you know I have a goal of reading 2 Narnia books this month. I'm halfway through my second (Voyage of the "Dawn Treader") with only days left to finish before I head to camp with my high school girls until August. Wish me some speedy reading luck!

Psalm 62:1-2
For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.

Refashion: Sweatshirt

The fun things about this outfit:
Jeans - Thrifted, Sweatshirt - Hand-Me-Down & Refashioned, Pink Bracelet - Thrifted

Sometimes I forget how big God is. Honestly, how embarrassing to admit, but I'm sure I'm not alone. It amazes me each time He answers prayer. And, come on, He answers prayer in big way's! Sometimes in ways you never expected. Sometimes the answer scares you, because it took you by surprise. Sometime you have to sit in shock for a while before you then realize...yep, that was prayer being answered like a Boss! And sometimes, it's so obvious from the beginning that it was out of your control and 100% Him, that you can't help but through your hands up in awe.

So right now, I'm in awe. And my hands are up. Because my God don't play.

John 14:13-14
Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

DIY: Frame Art

This was one of my favorite DIY projects.
My mom randomly bought all these simple unstained wood frames. A few months later she decided she had no idea why she purchased them. Soooo, knowing I'll take free art supplies any day, any time, she handed them over to me. I'm so glad she did, too.

You know what is amazing? No? Well, let me tell you!
It's amazing how weak I am to conquer my shortcomings. Or let's call it what I'm really trying to get at. It's amazing how easily I'm conquered by my sin. But, what's even more amazing to me is that God is so strong. Stronger than any strength I can understand. And in my weakness He is strong. It's so clear when God uses me for His purpose. Because I know it couldn't have been me who did it. I know I can't on my own. But He can. Also, I love that He is patient while I stubbornly resist admitting I'm wrong. I love it. It's amazing.

Luke 15:8-10
“Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Day of Few Words

The fun things about today's outfit:
1. White Jeans - Thrifted for $4 & skinnied.
2. Chambray (sleeveless) - Thrifted for $4 and taken in.
3. Striped Sweater - Marshals
4. Shoes - Target

I pretty much love these white jeans! I'm glad I have an imagination when I go thrifting!

I'm a lady with few words today. Actually all day I've probably only said about 15 full sentences. So with that I will leave you with a verse.

Romans 5:1-5
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not
only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been
poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

For the Love of Thrifting

The Fun things about today's outfit:
1. Green Pants - Thrifted for $4 and skinnied from a flair.
2. Sweater & Shoes - Target
3. Chambray - Thrifted for $2.50
4. White Bracelet - Thrifted
5. Paper Bead Bracelet - Gift

Seriously, I've been looking for olive green pants for a long time. I've looked at full priced stuff even, because I couldn't find anything in thrift stores. Well, yesterday I hit the jackpot! HOORAY!
When I try pants on at thrift stores I really only look at the fit in my from mid thigh and higher. I don't really enjoy refashioning the upper part of pants but from mid thigh down it's pretty darn easy.

I'm not proud of this, but I haven't been doing well on keeping my running goals. I haven't run once this week and it's Thursday already. Strange, because I had plans to run every single day. I probably even told someone each day that I was planning to run. Then the time came and something came up. It's time to buckle down and get to business. (Rabbit trail for a minute. When I say the words "Get down to business" I start singing Mulan in my head and getting ready to defeat the Huns)

Back to reality (Now my mind is rapping with Eminem). But really, this happens to me to often lately that I slack on commitments I make to myself. I need to start seriously praying for diligence and start setting lots of reminders in my phone for things. And maybe post some sticky notes around the house too. Determined to be diligent!

Proverbs 14:23
In all labor there is profit,
But idle chatter leads only to poverty.

Proverbs 13:4
The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing;
But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Pretty Green

This is how I think I look while posing.

The fun things about today's outfit:
1. Green Skirt - Thrifted & Refashioned (see below)
2. White Bracelet - Thrifted for $2
3. Scarf - Gift
4. Boots - Thrifted
5. Earrings - Gift

Skirt Before & After:
Well folks, once again this Refashion happened before I started a blog. That means there are minimal instruction photos. But basically I cut the dress in half. I rolled the top down twice to create a "tunnel" to insert some elastic through. You can put a clothes pin through the elastic to make it easier to push through said "tunnel." I promise this is not the last time I'll be doing this sort of DIY so I'll take better photos next time!

On to bigger and better topics!

Let me start by saying that I absolutely love my home church! It's such a wonderful community of people who are seeking Jesus! With that said, I have to shout out to some amazing people. Some friends are particularly supportive of my refashioning, and now, of my new blogging venture. My friend Judie and I joked this morning that I'm addicted to refashioning and reusing thrift and hand me down finds. To which I replied, "If I'm addicted, then you're my dealer." Judie in the past month has given me a box full of fabrics she's not using. (Can I get a Whoot Whoot!) Then to top it off today she gave me 3 beautiful scarfs that I love!!! Judie is amazing at finding under-appreciated, mis-used, antique, or just random pieces of jewelry and creating her own new jewelry out of the old piece. They always turns out beautiful!

Secondly, there's Jennifer. Today she brought me a bag of unwanted clothes from her closet. (Christmas morning much?) As Jennifer told me that she brought this bag of goodies today, she ended with, "There's more to come." And her beautiful and always fashionably dressed teenage daughter said, "I have some for you too."

Are you guys kidding me? YEAH! Ya gotta love the hand me downs! Love these women!

Today has been wonderful! It's felt laid back and easy. And I spent the afternoon, once again, in a coffee shop getting to know a new friend. We discussed work, life, and eternity (topic of daily growing interest, but more on that later this week).

James 1:22
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourself.

Polka Dots & Forever

The fun things about todays outfit:
1. Boots - Steve Madden (not my cheapest purchase)
2. Bracelets - Thrifted
3. Sweater - Thrifted
4. Polka Dot Button Up - Thrifted and altered by me. Check out the how-to HERE.

As I mentioned yesterday I'm a little scared of button up shirts. So today is ultra risky for me with this added bow. I found the instructions on pinterested and it took me 6 months to find a thrifted shirt to use for this particular DIY. Although the week after I finished the project I found a shirt much more similar to the one in the instructions and was a little bummed because I really like that material better. Oh well. Still a fun DIY.

Aside from todays outfit, I wanted to talk about what I'm reading on Heaven. Seriously guys, why haven't I thought about this more? Don't get me wrong, I'm not racing toward death or anything, like it's the goal. BUT WOW. Seeing Jesus, forever. Being in His presence, forever. Having the perfect relationship we were created to have restored to us, for forever. WOW. Now, that I'd like to race toward! That, my friends, is a great goal! It really makes me think about what I do with my day. Are my choices influenced by my thoughts of forever? Are my relationships? My conversations? My Outfits? My time management? I could go on, but I think you get it.

There's a book called In Light of Eternity by Randy Alcorn. I haven't read it yet but it's on the list as I study eternity. There's a quote on the back that I love.

Then there's this great song Psalm 62 that has a lyric saying,
"Though life is but a fleeting breath, a sigh to brief to measure,
My King has crushed the curse of death, and I am His forever."
"Your life's greatest adventure is ahead of you. And it will last forever."

Psalm 62:8
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.

Do this on each side.
3. Use seem ripper to rip side seems the sections you just sewed together.
Wear (Be sure to pull down over neck so it looks bunched around waist.

P.S. I promise my Refashion instructions will get better photographed as time goes.
I'm currently only posting ones that I did prior to having a blog.
So really they are before/after photos turned mock tutorial.

I'm so excited to say that today was wonderful! I kicked it off with a run (which ended as a walk due to yesterdays cross-fit work out soreness) Then spent a good hour and a half chatting with my sister (I'll tell you more about that in a sec.) Went to coffee with a new friend! Gathered for dinner with some great friends from church. (A southern couple has adopted me...the single...and has been introducing me to southern cooked meals! No complaining here!) Then I ended with some volleyball! Great day, dontcha say?

No back to my sister! She to is a new blogger. I'll be sending out her link soon. Starting next Saturday we'll be guest posting for each other with a little alliteration we're calling Sister Saturdays. (I know, I know... Brilliant name. Go ahead be amazed at our creativity.) I'm really excited for her blog. It's home stuff, like cooking and organization and diy's. So it will be a fun change in pace from the daily outfit. (Now that I think of it...she might do an outfit now and then too.) So keep an eye out because this sister of mine is one of a kind!

Psalm 118:22-24
The stone which the builders rejectedHas become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.

This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
