A Mix of Random

The fun things about this outfit:
Bracelets - Thrifted, Tank - Zummies, Jeans - Thrifted,
Shoes - Old Navy (talked them into 50%off), Earrings - Yardsale

I used to work at an athletic club...aka... the gym.
There was a guy there in his 40's who always used to give out fatherly advice to people.
He was talking to me one day and decided to describe to me the difference between a guys and a girls brain. "A guys brain is like a little deer trail. There aren't any off-shoots, you can only go one place at a time, and if you even step off a little it's hard to remember where you came from. BUT (confused look on his face) A girls brain is like a freeway. Things are whizzing by a thousand miles an hour in every direction, more than three lane of information going at one time. And somehow they get the whizzing stuff to the right place."

Well my friends. Here are a few of my whizzing by random facts about these pictures!

1. Photos taken at Bella Cupcake! The yummiest, darlingest, fabulous-est cupcakery around!

2. I grew up on the Beatles. So it's not even that I'm in love with this shirt, but more that when I wear it I want to show up on my mom's door step and say, "Check who I'm sporting today!" And see her proud smile.

3. I'm officially entering the world of french braids. This is only the beginning folks. I've mastered it on someone else's noggin, but now I'm attempting to learn on myself. Wish me luck.

4. YES. I'm wearing these shoes Aaaagaaaiinn. I love them! Judge me if you must but I'll just keep wearing them!

5. Now that I started talking about deer trails and freeways, it made me think of this verse! The path I really want to be on!

Enjoy!!!

Psalm 25:4-5
Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.

A Lil' Festival Never Hurt Anyone!

The fun things about this outfit:
Shirt - H&M, Necklace - YardSale, Leggings - Gift

You know those days when you just have to dress a little lazy and have some fun?

Well, welcome to the Sandy Mountain Festival.

Booths of all sorts, food of all flavors, and entertainment galour.

I'm not playin' here people, you could go spend all day out there, and not even get to the carnival part.
So I'm just saying, I ate a little too much.

I spent time there with one of the students I mentioned a while back from Basque Country.
Halfway through our day, she looked at me and said (as I watched yet another person walk by with a mouth watering dish of who-knows-what), "You think about food A LOT."

I just nodded, shrugged my shoulders and said, "Well...whatcha gunna do?"

I've been going to this event since I was a kid with my mom and sister. So by now I better know what the good food is, and Elephant Ears are for sure a top runner. Mmm, I kind of want one just thinking about it now!

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

A Quarter Century

The fun things about this outfit:
Skirt - Thrifted ($5), Shirt - Ross, Shoes - Thrifted ($8), Earrings - Yardsale ($0.25)

I just think, for one second, I'll point out that yesterday was my birthday.
I've officially hit the ripe old age of 25.
A quarter century old, as my sister so kindly pointed out.

At first I was a little bummed. 25 and I still haven't done so many things that I want to do.
Then, as every lovely lady at church reminded me, I remembered 25 isn't that old at all.
So here's me raising my glass and saying "Cheers."
Cheers to letting the Lord do with this year whatever he has planned.
Cheers to not letting myself get in the way. Ha.
 Cheers to growth.
Cheers to new adventures, new friends, new trials, and new victories.
Cheers to maybe some old victories too.
Cheers to overcoming.
Cheers to Him who has overcome!
Cheers 25! Bring it on!

John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Purse Thrifting

Let me get one thing straight. I did NOT buy all these purses in one thrifting trip.
I mean I'm not a crazy purse person here.

But because over the last few months I've found so many good deals, I had to share them!
I will declare this, though, that I will not be buying a new purse for quite a while
(thrifted or otherwise). It was getting a bit out of hand.

So here are the fun facts about the purse finds:
1. Betsey Johnson - $5 at Yard Sale
2. Stone Mountain - $3 Thrifted
3. Coach - $5 Yard Sale
4. Valentino di Paolo - $3 Thrifted
And the strap unzips into a backpack.
5. Saddle River - $2 Thrifted
6. Squared by Sondra Roberts - $7 Foxtrot Vintage
7. Not Sure - $2 Thrifted

I have one more fantastic purse to share with you. I've been searching for a white purse all spring. And if you saw my post last Monday you know I spent the weekend at a consignment event. Well, I found one. So check back later this week to get a peek!

Intense Day, Intense Wind

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Tank - Target
2. Skirt - Old Navy
3. Necklace - Hand Made
4. Bracelet - Yard Sale

Well yesterday was an intense day for me. I'm still processing it actually.
So I've decided to post these ridiculous outfit pictures (if you can even call them
outfit pictures) that I took a couple weeks ago now. Hopefully you all get a good
laugh out of them. I wore this outfit on a day that my mom and I went on a little
day date together! (LOVE HER).

When I've fully processed all that I took in yesterday I will try to put it into words.
So keep an eye out Monday or Tuesday for the low down on the day I spent
volunteering at the local High School as a facilitator in an event structured to
break down stereo types and so much more.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power
is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more
gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Memorial Day Wrap Up

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Shirt - Thifted & Refashioned (This post has a link for the DIY)
2. Sweater - Marshall's
3. Necklace - Yard Sale Score $0.75
4. Jeans - Buckle
5. Shoes - Shoe Cafe24

What do I think about Memorial day?

Ok, I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I'm glad there's a holiday to celebrate
those who serve this country. I wish it was more than yearly! Military service is dear to
my heart. My sister and her hubs are both currently in the Air Force. And my older brother served in the Navy for years
on an aircraft carrier. My mom, sister and I visited once when I was in middle school and
it did not look like a pleasant place to live months on end. All I'm saying folks is that I love
them. They are courageous and wonderful! And while some servicemen I've encountered
swore like sailors and behave in ways I may not condone, it does not discount the fact that
they are serving so that our country gets to continue our luxurious lives.

I'm not politically minded, and I for shiz don't claim to know all the
inner workings of our armed forces. But I do know that I am grateful
for them and their willingness to put their lives on the line.

Now...stepping of my soap box. I will give a shout out to my sister over at My Wholesome Home and say, I love you! So So SOOO Much! Thanks you for serving!

I called them all today to thank them for serving. All except my Afi (pronounced avee & Icelandic for Grandpa). I'll call him today because when I finally had time yesterday, it was too late to call... What time do grandparents go to bed anyways??

Guess what else I did today in their honor!

The most intense crossfit workout I've done yet. It's called "Murph" after a Naval Lt. who died in action. Here's the run down.
Run 1 mile
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
Run 1 mile.

Intense much?

Yes. And to in my final mile run, it poured buckets on me. Touche Northwest! Touche.

snapshot of me soaking wet post workout. Find me at @patternedlove

P.S. I guest posted for Kristina yesterday! Check it out!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Gum - A Love/Hate Thing

Just a little windy.
The fun things about this outfit:
1. Denim Vest - Thrifted
2. Pants - Thrifted & Skinnied
3. T-shirt - Target
4. Shoes - Thrifted ($4)
5. Earings - Yard Sale
6. Purse - Yard Sale (Betsey Johnson $5)

That's right! I picked up a Betsey Johnson purse for $5 at a yard sale!
Want to hear all about it? To bad. The story is basically what I already said,
and I need to vent about gum!

Let's be honest, I'm not the only one out there who chews gum... Am I?

I'm not, right? Right?

Today as I went through half a pack at work. That sounds like I'm a chain smoker
or something, but I assure you I'm only involved in chewy jaw involved insanity,
not smelly ones. (No offense to you out there who smoke, it's just not my thing.)

Like I was saying I chewed half a pack of gum at work. By the end of my day I had one
of the worst head aches, my jaw hurt, and my mouth was fresh dry. It was at this point I
realized I have what one might call a Love-Hate relationship with my dear friend GUM.

I have to ask myself, "Why, in the heckaroo, did I take another piece."

I seriously will put a new piece in my mouth to replace the old one before
it's even out of flavor sometimes. (If you didn't see the big deal earlier,
I bet now you understand why I'm calling it insanity.)

I love the fresh flavor. It is something to do instead of eat all day. (I'm one of those
munchy people who other, normal people look at and say, "why are they still eating?"
I like food people!) I actually tangibly like the act of unwrapping gum.
It's getting weird - isn't it? When my mouth feels unfresh (real word?),
the Orbit commercials literally go on rerun in my head. "Clean it up." she said.

But do those pro's outweigh the cons?
That head ache was a doozy and it didn't go away for hours.

I have to cut back! Do they have a patch for that?

Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
