Bring It On

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress & Sandals- Target, Belt - Thrifted, Shirt & Bracelets - HandMeDown, Necklace - Free

So I love the rain and all (Yay Oregon), but when that summer-time sunshine shows
it's long lost rays, I'm ready! I love that, in the heat, I can toss a dress on and
somehow look like I put way more effort into my attire than if I wore a jeans/top
kind of combo (which for the record, I'm running out of original combo's there).

So bring on the sun!
Bring on the dresses!

And I guess, bring on blogging on a regular-ish basis again!

The verse I have for you today is important. I'm not the best at memorization.
(Flash back to every high school test I broke a sweat during)
I mean, I've had some really bad lyrical mistakes that I'm still not sure I'll ever live down.
I only know a handful of movie titles or actor/actress names.
I think I know a total of 6 people's birthdays without the help of good 'ol facebook.
So... when I decided I wanted to memorize some scripture...
let's just say it exactly how it is.

It Did Not Happen.

So I've enlisted a friend, who jumped at it when I asked if she'd be my
memorizing buddy. And below is where we are starting! Feel free to join!

And now, I guess,
Bring on the Memorization.

1 Corinthians 10: 12-13
Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful,
and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation
he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

And Just Where Have YOU Been, Lil Missy?

Or maybe this post could be better titled, "Yes, I Am Still Alive"

My break from blogging has been far far longer than I ever anticipated. I paused in December, caused by holiday festivities filling my calendar and then my calendar said to me, "Imma keep ya busy yo."

And so goes life, right?

I've been doing things like:

1. Afternoon Tea with my mom (which, if you didn't know,
you always must sport a fancy hat during).

2. Playing underground black light putt-putt golf...
Yes, my shoes are blinders apparently.

3. And building Forts in my living room...
I feel like no explanation is needed here.

4. I've also been constructing Lincoln Log cabins.

5. Attending DIY tables at the local craft store.
(Yep made a hot pick bracelet)

6. Learning (and almost mastering) chopsticks
(My fingers get so incredibly tired...how does everyone do this?)

7. And creating Baby Shower cakes and Decor.

So as you can tell, the calendar had important things for me to be doing all these months of blogging wasteland. And I could do nothing but comply with these demands. (All joking aside though, it's been a whirlwind these past 5 months and I've missed blogging.)

As I'm trying to figure out how to get back in the routine of Le Blog, I'm rethinking it all together. Last year I posted outfits and zoomed in on the stellar fact that thriftin' it up is pretty much amazing and doesn't mean you have to be out of date. During the year it became one of the only things anyone ever talked to me about. Not that they would only discuss outfits, DIY,  & thrift - but people would only discuss those things in reference to the blog and what they saw on here.

Let's get one thing straight, I love talking about this stuff! But, it's not the sole thing I'd like to talk about. Soooo, I'm reinventing Patterned Love to include other categories as well. (In hindsight - good thing I didn't title my blog something like Thrift Only or Outfit Mania).

I've been really enjoying cooking, as of late, and baking. I've embarked on sewing projects outside the clothing realm, and I've been venturing out to find new eats. All of which I wouldn't mind sharing with whatever crowd may be hovering my tiny square inch of the inter-webs. So beginning soon, I'll be back and I'll be starting some new adventures.

(well... if you've stuck around during the unannounced hiatus)
See you soon.

Colored Leggings

The fun things about this outfit:
Sweater - Thrifted, Leggings - H&M, Necklace - Gift

Well I have to say, I'm in love with these leggings.
I never thought I'd be a colored legging type of girl, but H&M proved me wrong.
And I was pumped to pair this slouchy thrifted sweater with them!

Anyone else out there a little scared of colored leggings?
Share a link with how you pulled them off!

Ephesians 3:14-19
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength tocomprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Deviled Eggs? Yes Please!

Well Naomi is off gallivanting around the country (well the west coast anyway),
so she asked me to share a recipe with you today! I usually share recipes on my blog
My Wholesome Home, so it's fun to be posting for you over here today.

Deviled eggs are one of our ABSOLUTE favorite holiday snacks.
I suppose they don't have to be limited to just holidays, but that's when
we seem to make them the most. The best part is they're super easy.

Deviled Eggs
eggs
mayonnaise
mustard
paprika

1. Boil your eggs. (I cook mine for 8 1/2 minutes after the water starts boiling)

2. After peeling eggs, put in fridge for at least 1/2 hour to chill.

3. Slice eggs in half and gently pop out centers into bowl. Set whites aside on a plate.

4. Add approximately 1 Tablespoon mayonnaise per egg yolk, a squirt of mustard, and a dash of paprika to bowl.

5. Use and a hand mixer to combine.

6. Keep adding mayonnaise, mustard and paprika to taste. The mayonnaise is what helps make the yolks smooth, but be careful not to add to much so they don't become watery.

7. I learned this handy trick from my sister-in-law. Scoop yolk mixture into a Ziploc baggie and cut a corner. Use the bag to squeeze the yolks equally back into the whites.

8. If desired, add a dash more paprika on top.

9. Serve and enjoy!

Feel free to hop over and check out the rest of my tasty recipes! Happy Monday, and safe travels to Naomi as she heads home.

Note from Naomi: I switch up the amount of mustard and mayo.
I'm pretty much a I-hate-mayo kind of girl, so I try to not add too much.
Play with the portions and see what you like.
***I add bacon sometimes too!

Holiday Travels

The fun things about this outfit:
Jeans - OldNavy, Shoes - Target, Shirt & Coat - Thrifted, Blue Bracelet - Thrifted

I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving yesterday!

I had the joy of being able to travel to see my lovely sister.
It was quite the different holiday for me. I'm used to helping my mom in the kitchen,
as more people pour in the door and the living rooms fill up, and children run back
and forth up and down the hallway. But this year I made one dish, prepped one more,
and sat back and relaxed. It was pretty sweet!

What did you do yesterday?

Philippians 2:3-5
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus

Thankful Thursday: Gifts

The fun things about this outfit:
Sweater - Free, Jeans - Buckle, Shoes - Target, Bracelet - Thrfited, Necklace - HomeMade

This necklace started from an old chain found in my mom's garage and a short skirt
that makes a tall girl like me look like I'm showing a little too much badonkadonk.

Here's how I created it:
1. Pick some materials.
2. Cut strips of fabric. (try to choose something that doesn't fray)
3. Get your piles of fabrics set out and ready to go.
4. Tie lots of knots!
5. Wear that thing like a boss!

All this brings me to what I'm thankful for...
I'll be joining my sister Rachel for her monthly theme of Thankful Thursdays
So appropriately kicking off today on Thanksgiving!

I'm so incredibly thankful for having the ability to cut strips of fabric. And that I'm able to tie a knot.
I love that I have a mind that can be creative when I see an old skirt and a bulky chain.
I'm just so incredibly grateful that God has given me the gift of craftiness... I know it's not on
the list of spiritual gifts, but I'm claiming it as God given anyways!

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the
Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Wordless Wednesday: Knotted Sweater

The fun things about this outfit:
Sweater - Thrifted, Bracelets - Mostly Thrifted, Jeans - OldNavy, Shoes - Target

Romans 5:6-8
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—
though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
