Refashion: Pillow Case

The fun things about this outfit:
Skirt - Made by Me, Shirt - Refashioned, Belt - Somewhere $5, Watch - Thrifted, Shoes - DSW, Necklace - Free

That's right everyone! This skirt was a pillow case. Look down your nose at me if you want to, but I say Heck Yes, I did that!

It was so fast and easy!
1. Get a pillow case.
2. Cut the closed end of the pillow case off.
3. Hem the side you just cut.
4. Thread elastic through the hem and sew shut.
5. Wear that business!

Seriously, this is an outfit of epic proportions. The t-shirt I'm wearing is from a few years ago at camp. I love the t-shirt. It's bright! But I don't really sport a crew neck T very often. So I chopped off the sleeves and neckline, and whipped it on... And what do ya know? It looked legit.

And that my friends, is how to dress on the cheap!

Colossians 3:1-2
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Yesterday Forgotten

The fun things about this outfit:
Shirt - Made by Me, Pants - H&M(skinnied by me), Necklace - Gift, Shoes - Target

Sooo... I'm going to be honest here. Basically I forgot to blog yesterday. Seems a little strange because it's now habit to prep each day's blog posts. It's a little comforting though to know that blogging is not all consuming in my life. And I will say that my day on Monday at the beach really took it out of me. So soon I will tell you about the day that wiped me out, because it was amazing... and windy!

But for today I leave you with a home made shirt, and hoping that someday you will all be able to experience Dutch Bro's Coffee! And of course, one amazing verse to encourage you!

Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Nothing Schnazzy

The fun things about this outfit:
All I can say for sure, is I thrifted this belt. I can't even remember where these others came from.

Today I'm spending the day at the beach with a group of Basque Country summer exchange students. I'm super excited about it! But because of spending time with them this past weekend, not only is my outfit casual, but I didn't really think up a schnazzy post to entertain you all. So let me just leave you with a verse that totally encouraged my easily scared heart this weekend.

2 Timothy 1:7
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Sweet Thrift Find...Again!

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress - Thrifted $4, Belt - Thrifted $0.50, Green Bracelet - Thrifted $0.25, Shoes - Ross, Earrings - High School

So I have to say that I was, once again, pumped to find this dress for just $4!
What a steal, right! And did I mention...It has pockets!!!
The local thrift shop is seriously my fave!

I'm currently in works of a few refashions that will hopefull be ready to wear by August.
I'm pretty excited about a couple of them in particular.
But I suppose for now I have to leave you in suspense.

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Burst of Color

The fun things about this outfit:
Skirt - Thrifted $4, Tank - Target, Shoes - Ross, Belt - F21 (2008), Necklace - Gift

First, check out this sweet skirt! What a find, right? I fell in love with this lovely semi grandma-ish skirt at the second-hand store, and took it home for $4! This outfit seriously made me want to head somewhere tropical!

So I was a little confused with the whole GFC is out situation. It seems to still be on every one's sidebars. And it sorta had my head spiraling trying to understand. But I think I might have it. Google Reader is out. GFC on sidebars is still active. You can join a site and follow people, but it wont update to your google reader anymore. Which to me seems a little pointless. So my dears, let me present you with a few different options for following this her' blog!

1. Bloglovin - always a great option. I love that I can put blogs in categories!
2. Facebook - That's right folks! I'm social-media-ing (if that's a word), so head over and "like" the page!
3. Instagram - @patternedlove is more of a peak into my life than this blog lets on sometimes.
4. Google Plus - (Is this one of those things where I shouldn't spell "plus" out and need to use a symbol?) I'll share all new posts here!

P.S. Guest posting the first in a 3-part series over at Annie's Bubble today! Check it out!

New Tunes...HELP!

The fun things about this outfit:
Jeans - Thrifted $4Shoes - Thrifted $4, Blue Blouse - Thrifted $3, Necklace - Thrifted $1

I need help. Lately I've been realizing that I'm not staying up to date with new music coming out. I need some new tunes! Any suggestions? I'm talking specific songs here, not general artists! What's going on in music land these days? All genres! And it's summer so send me some tunes I can dance to (in my living room)!

Ready... Go!

John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Slipping Under

This One is for the LAAADDYYYYYY'S

So, I've noticed as Summer brightens and brightens that everyone is sporting their beautiful dresses, and lovely skirts mixed and matched in splendid ways.

Want to know what else I've noticed?

I can see through your dress my dear!

I mentioned it to a friend recently, and she said, what are we supposed to do?
I had no idea that the idea of a slip had...slipped away.
It was ingrained into me as a kid. Wear A Slip! my mom would say.
I'd whine and go do as I was told.
Am I the only one not loving that I can see the silhouette of every set of legs wearing a wind-blown skirt this summer? It's so easy to wear a slip! So get to slippin' ladies!

As I already said, my mom nagged me to wear these as a young whipper-snapper. When I was in middle school she bought me a white slip for my skirts. Said slip is also pictured above. When my best friend found out how old my regularly used slip is, she gave it the title, "Old Faithful" which we still call it all the time!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Hi-Low going Picnicing

The fun things about this outfit:
Hi-Low Dress - Target, Shoes - Ross, Vest - Thrifted, Earrings - Thrifted, Belt - High School

So I wore this outfit last Sunday knowing I'd be heading straight from church to our annual all-church Picnic in the Park. My home church is not huge. We meet on Sundays in the commons of a local middle school. So when we do gatherings like a picnic, generally there's a good turn out. It was so much fun! We had group games, pinatas for the kids, feeding the ducks, a huge potluck of food, and mmmmm burgers!

In case you didn't know... Which you most likely didn't, I used to be a vegetarian. A really bad one with way to much sugar intake going on, but a vegetarian, non-the-less. It lasted for 4 years, but I'm now recovered. (No offence vegetarian readers, I just really like meat!) One of my favorite things during the summer is BBQing some burgers...well, at least eating some BBQed burgers! I have to say, my mouth is now watering!

It wasn't just the burgers that I loved about the Picnic, though. I love it when out church body it together. I love spending time in conversation with people and getting to know new people, or getting to know the same people better. It's always so encouraging to see everyone so involved, and mingling, and loving each other. MMM sweet community

Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
