Wordless Wednesday: Home Made Dress

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress - HomeMade, Vest - Thrifted, Shoes - Ross, Necklace - HomeMade

Well, I'm not the only one with no words today.
My sister has a few old & funny pics of the two of us. Check it out

Mark 7:14-15
And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand: There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him,
but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”

Leaving On A Jet Plane... For Realz

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress & Belt - Old Navy Sale, Boots - Nordstrom,
Necklace - Made by Me, Earings - Chase Me Again Thrift Store

I wore this outfit about 2 weeks ago...which is a testament to how little I've been blogging.

I've been really bad this past week about posting.
Just a couple excuses even though I know it may not matter.
I had a friend in town visiting, and then I've been getting ready for something a little different...

Yep. I'm leaving.
I'm flighing across the pond... TODAY

I'm going to Basque Country! And I'm sooooo excited!

That means you'll need to give some love next week to the gracious ladies who are covering.
They are so wonderful and got me some help last munite,
because this trip sort of snuck up on me and I didn't blog plan very well.

So come late October, I'll be back in the swing of things and posting regularly.
But until then I'll be a little hit and miss... But hey, my life is more than blogging.

{Yes, take a moment to gasp if you must, but it's true!}

So farewell, my friends.

Luke 9:23-24
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his crossdaily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Lil Black Tank Dress

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress - Maidenform, Belt - Old Navy gift, Shoes - Target, Pink Bracelet - Thrifted

Ok I have a confession...

This was not meant to be a dress. I'm a little frightened to admit that on a blog post but hey,
I'm known in my circles for making thing work, so no harm in just going with it here too!

Yep... It was meant to be a "night gown" from Maidenform.
Three things though...
ONE: who wears a gown to bed anyway?
TWO: this is clearly not a gown!
THREE: its not see-thru so it makes an amazing summer go-to!!!
{if only I'd found it at the start of summer!}

Psalm 103:1-5
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Foxtrot Vintage Again

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress - F21{high school}, Shirt - Thrifted, Shoes - Thrifted, Necklace - Gift

You know what?
One of my favorite places to daydream and doddle time away is wondering the one and only Foxtrot Vintage! They have such a fun mish mash of antiques. Check out the inside view in this past post.

And let's be honest, did anyone else grow up being dragged into antique stores with their mom's and moaning the whole time? I mean, we were in there for 5 seconds and it felt like eternity may have ended. It was the dreaded drive to the beach that always got me. I always found myself wondering how on earth there could be so many antique stores on the side of the road. One day it hit me... Maybe everyone else's mom does this dreaded pit stop too. Could it be?

Funny thing is that now I love antique stores. It's a rare occasion that I pick something up, but it's like it's own little world in there. And Foxtrot of all places has the cutest little atmosphere. I mean come one people! The owner even came out to take a picture with me! What a pal... right?!!

He totally made my day, too! He said he had just been googling his store to see what sort of pictures came up and that he had just seen photos from my blog.

Woot! Woot! I've officially been seen in a google search!

Knotting the T

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress - Kohls(2009), T-Shirt - Target, Shoes - Ross, Earrings - Thrifted($0.25)

Seriously, one of the easiest things for me to wear is a knotted t-shirt over a dress.
Seems a little lazy, but it has never really failed to work for me.
So I just keep tossing on t-shirts.

It stretches out my T's, yes. But once it's washed, you'd never know!

I think this does 1 of 2 things.
1. It either dresses down a dress that is too fancy for where ever you're going
{ or }
2. It covers up all too revealing upper dress.
{ or }
I guess maybe both?

Either way, I wasn't sure about it the first time I wore a t-shirt like this.
But after that first knot, I haven't looked back! (unless it was at a pic so I could get an outfit idea!) So I say try it out!

Romans 5:6-8
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— butGod shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Foxtrot Vintage

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Dress - Thrifted for $4
2. Belt - Thrifted $0.50
3. Shoes - Target
4. Earrings - Oldies

Clearly, everyone knows that I love to thrift shop. And sometimes there's a fine line between thrifting and antiquing. But in the last year or so, I've started to really like antique shops too. I generally don't purchase as often as I do at a thrift store but I love to look!

Downtown G-town is pretty much amazing. It's where my favorite coffee shop is located.
It's where I get my hair cut. It's where you'll find some of the best sun-dried tomato
bagels of your entire life. It's where World's Apart Studios has landed! (They officially launched on June 1 and I wore this dress to their open house.) It is where one
of my favorite thrift stores is. It's home to our farmers market, library, cupcakery,
and restaurants & salons galore.

Seriously Downtown G-town is the place to be!

Recently I've notice that antique stores are making their rounds.
I think we've had about 5 go in on Main St. I think 2 are left standing now
and my favorite let us take outfit pictures inside.

Foxtrot Vintage has it all! Once I even tried on a pair of Nordstrom boots
from way back when. Sadly, they were about half a size to small,
otherwise for $10 I would have swept them up!
I found some super fun things in there while we were exploring!
A huge vintage Coke Cola cooler! A legit old bowling ball, shoes, and bag!
They have a crazy large selection of glass ware and random art.
My favorite purchase I've ever made there was a red clutch for just $7.

If you're a local! You've gotta check this place out! Even just for some window shopping!

P.S. Don't forget to like Patterned Love on Facebook
and leave me your facebook link so I can return the favor!

Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

A Doozy of a Day & Polka Dots

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Sweater - Thrifted
2. Polka Dot Shirt - Thrifted
3. Watch, Bracelet & Necklace - Thrifted
4. Boots - Target
5. Leggings - Lost & Never Found...thus Inherited!

Ok, so last weekend was a doozy, for sure.
Let's all take a little back peddle and I'll tell you about it!

It started Thursday, which I know isn't technically part of the weekend,
but because I only work 3-4 hrs on Fridays I'm counting it.

I spent Thursday at the High School volunteering.
Maybe you remember me having a super sort post that day saying
I was still processing and would write about it later. Well, now, is that later.

It all started with a room full of empty chairs.

I helped out with Challenge Day (Check the organization out) which is facilitated
by a team of two who travel around the country to different schools. Let me just
give a shout out and say these two were gems! Absolutely great at connecting with
students. And I know it takes a lot, because I hang out with some pretty rad high
school girls on a regular basis. In fact these girls are why I even became a volunteer
for the district in the first place. But now I'm rambling...

The day was set up to break down preconceived notions that students have
about each other and show them that they have more in common then they think,
as well as teaching that everyone needs to feel accepted. Sometimes those who bully,
need it the most. Adults were really there to do everything the students did.
We had no leadership role or power. We didn't even have much more information
about what was coming next during the day. Were were on the same level as the students. In fact, really the only thing they emphasized in the pre-day adult meeting was what
mandatory reporter needs to report and the fact that we need to be 10x more
excited then the students ever would be. You know how students sometimes
think they're too cool? Yeah, that's why. There were fun games and there
were serious conversations and activities.

It was an emotionally packed day. Throughout 5 hours, at least 95% of
participating students were crying and a large portion of the adults as well.
I can honestly say that it opened my eyes. Teenagers go through a lot.
I already knew that based on getting to know the girls that I know. I would think
I wouldn't be surprised anymore when I hear a heartbreaking story of broken homes,
and teenagers feeling alone, or not knowing where they're going to sleep from
night to night and having to work because parents wont. Life is hard. I feel honored to
be in the lives of the girls that I spend time with, some of whom I've been living life
with for 4 years now. I'd encourage anyone to get out there and be a solid place for
a youth to rely on. Be a mentor. Adults are around for a reason. Children & Youth
need to look to someone to know how to go through this life. They need examples to
set a standard for them not actions to show them what not to do.

And that, my friends, was Thursday.

The next 2 days I spent at our annual Plant Sale to raise money to take
students to camp. My gang of girls is pretty pumped! Friday was full of
unloading semi trucks of plants to set up at our Gresham Ford, who generously
lets us use their car lot for the sale every single year! And Saturday was standing
on street corners with signs to direct cars to the big sale. Sun tan op? Yes please!

And Sunday I worked/went to church and headed over to the retreat place for Monday.

So it's already Thursday again, and I feel like last Thursday was just hours ago.
A Doozy? I say so.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
