Wishing for Sun?

The fun things about this outfit:
Shoes, Tank & Jeans - Old Navy, Necklace - Gift

Ok, as I sit here sniffling and wishing I could do anything but breath only through my mouth, I am really wanting some sunshine. I realize that's a long shot. I know it's not like me to relish the rain. But it's what my sinus' are wishing for. Sun!

So even if I can't get some sunshine, I thought I'd post an outfit that I wore while the sun was shining in Basque Country in early October!

Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Black & White Dress

The fun things about this outfit:
Dress - Target uber sale, Shoes - Target, Bracelet - Thrifted, Earrings - Made by Me

So as I went through last weeks photos to post, I realized that I felt a little silly
posting that sleeves were back on Monday. I should have waited until the end of the
week, because last week the sun was still shining brightly and I have a few more
sun dresses to show you all. Oh well, live & learn.

2 Thessalonians 2:13
But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved
by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through
sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.

Hi-Low going Picnicing

The fun things about this outfit:
Hi-Low Dress - Target, Shoes - Ross, Vest - Thrifted, Earrings - Thrifted, Belt - High School

So I wore this outfit last Sunday knowing I'd be heading straight from church to our annual all-church Picnic in the Park. My home church is not huge. We meet on Sundays in the commons of a local middle school. So when we do gatherings like a picnic, generally there's a good turn out. It was so much fun! We had group games, pinatas for the kids, feeding the ducks, a huge potluck of food, and mmmmm burgers!

In case you didn't know... Which you most likely didn't, I used to be a vegetarian. A really bad one with way to much sugar intake going on, but a vegetarian, non-the-less. It lasted for 4 years, but I'm now recovered. (No offence vegetarian readers, I just really like meat!) One of my favorite things during the summer is BBQing some burgers...well, at least eating some BBQed burgers! I have to say, my mouth is now watering!

It wasn't just the burgers that I loved about the Picnic, though. I love it when out church body it together. I love spending time in conversation with people and getting to know new people, or getting to know the same people better. It's always so encouraging to see everyone so involved, and mingling, and loving each other. MMM sweet community

Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Foxtrot Vintage

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Dress - Thrifted for $4
2. Belt - Thrifted $0.50
3. Shoes - Target
4. Earrings - Oldies

Clearly, everyone knows that I love to thrift shop. And sometimes there's a fine line between thrifting and antiquing. But in the last year or so, I've started to really like antique shops too. I generally don't purchase as often as I do at a thrift store but I love to look!

Downtown G-town is pretty much amazing. It's where my favorite coffee shop is located.
It's where I get my hair cut. It's where you'll find some of the best sun-dried tomato
bagels of your entire life. It's where World's Apart Studios has landed! (They officially launched on June 1 and I wore this dress to their open house.) It is where one
of my favorite thrift stores is. It's home to our farmers market, library, cupcakery,
and restaurants & salons galore.

Seriously Downtown G-town is the place to be!

Recently I've notice that antique stores are making their rounds.
I think we've had about 5 go in on Main St. I think 2 are left standing now
and my favorite let us take outfit pictures inside.

Foxtrot Vintage has it all! Once I even tried on a pair of Nordstrom boots
from way back when. Sadly, they were about half a size to small,
otherwise for $10 I would have swept them up!
I found some super fun things in there while we were exploring!
A huge vintage Coke Cola cooler! A legit old bowling ball, shoes, and bag!
They have a crazy large selection of glass ware and random art.
My favorite purchase I've ever made there was a red clutch for just $7.

If you're a local! You've gotta check this place out! Even just for some window shopping!

Memorial Day Wrap Up

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Shirt - Thifted & Refashioned (This post has a link for the DIY)
2. Sweater - Marshall's
3. Necklace - Yard Sale Score $0.75
4. Jeans - Buckle
5. Shoes - Shoe Cafe24

What do I think about Memorial day?

Ok, I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I'm glad there's a holiday to celebrate
those who serve this country. I wish it was more than yearly! Military service is dear to
my heart. My sister and her hubs are both currently in the Air Force. And my older brother served in the Navy for years
on an aircraft carrier. My mom, sister and I visited once when I was in middle school and
it did not look like a pleasant place to live months on end. All I'm saying folks is that I love
them. They are courageous and wonderful! And while some servicemen I've encountered
swore like sailors and behave in ways I may not condone, it does not discount the fact that
they are serving so that our country gets to continue our luxurious lives.

I'm not politically minded, and I for shiz don't claim to know all the
inner workings of our armed forces. But I do know that I am grateful
for them and their willingness to put their lives on the line.

Now...stepping of my soap box. I will give a shout out to my sister over at My Wholesome Home and say, I love you! So So SOOO Much! Thanks you for serving!

I called them all today to thank them for serving. All except my Afi (pronounced avee & Icelandic for Grandpa). I'll call him today because when I finally had time yesterday, it was too late to call... What time do grandparents go to bed anyways??

Guess what else I did today in their honor!

The most intense crossfit workout I've done yet. It's called "Murph" after a Naval Lt. who died in action. Here's the run down.
Run 1 mile
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
Run 1 mile.

Intense much?

Yes. And to in my final mile run, it poured buckets on me. Touche Northwest! Touche.

P.S. I guest posted for Kristina yesterday! Check it out!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Life: Farmer's Market

Well, the time has come!
My local Farmer's Market has now been open for 3 weeks and our small historic
downtown is booming with shoppers every Saturday morning. This puts a serious
stress on, if I ever wanted to go hang at my favorite coffee shop (right at the entrance
of the market) on Saturday's (good thing I tend not to).

I'm not going to lie, I was waisting time scrolling through old pics of when I lived with my friend and watching her daughter grow, and next thing I knew an hour had past and I was still sitting in my pajama pants at 10AM. (Let me be clear, this is perfectly acceptable on a Saturday, it just isn't normal for me! So you go right ahead and keep sleeping in my friend! No "shame on yous" coming from me.)

A friend calls me up at the exact moment I'm feeling a little lazy from sitting for an hour slumped over a screen, and she tosses out a, "Want to meet me at the Farmers Market? I can be there in 10 minutes"

PANIC.

I'm in my p.j.s and my friend with two kids and pregnant on the verge of bursting is already up and going for the day with her kids ready to go and packed up in the car.

All I could do is tell the truth.
"Um...Yes...but its going to take me a littllllllllle longer than 10."
I tossed on the first clothes I saw, wrangled my hair into something that somewhat resembled a human head. And I'm pretty sure I only put make-up on one eye.

Before running out the door, I took a look at my counter and refrigerator to see what I needed....EMPTY? What the What? Who ate all my produce? How long have I been living without produce in my house? (Taco Bell you crafty little, distracting minx)
Needless to say I was sure glad she invited me because I needed some serous shopping.

This was seriously so fun. You always run into someone tons of people you know while you're there. And you never know what sort of things you'll see being sold from week to week, or what kind of people will be walking around. I found some great stuff, but unfortunately it's still a little early in the season and I had to stop by a grocery store on the way home to find what I didn't snag at the market.

P.S. I can't end without telling you I snagged these shades at a thrift story for $1.

Leviticus 26:3-4
If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them,
then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall
yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Five Things: Summer Edition

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Worn on Mothers Day
2. Skirt - Found in my Moms old clothes from back in the day.
(I made it into a high low)
3. Belt - Thrifted
4. Shirt - Thrifted
5. Shoes - Ross

I'm loving any sun I get these days got last week.
I thought I'd tell you why I love summer,
in hopes those heat rays will show their face again.
I know it's still May but It feels like summer when the sun comes out!

5 Things I Love about Summer
1. Fresh smell of mowed grass! You know you love it, too.
2. Sundresses E're Day! - I'm a dress girl over shorts any day.
3. Frolicking - Don't judge. I take every open field opportunity I find!
4. BBQ - I love me some hamburgers and lawn chairs... Yes, you CAN invite me over!
5. Inspiration - I know it sounds silly, especially because I love rain the same as I love sun
but for some reason summer puts me in the mood for DIY & other crafty projects.

Did I miss anything? Fill me in on why you love summer?

Hebrews 13:20-21
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us
that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
