Dots & Stripes!

The fun things about this outfit:
Boots & Bracelet & Shirt - Thrifted, Necklace - from Basque Country, Jeans - Old Navy

Sometimes I pick up things in the thrift store that I can't decide if I like it or if I hate it.
This shirt is totally one of those items.

I walked around for at least 30 minutes with this "grandma" shirt in my arm.
Is it hideous?
Is it brilliant?

I took the plunge and walked up to the register.
{Sometimes I get weird looks form the clerks when the see what I'm buying.
Doesn't phase me!}

Then it sat. And sat. And sat in my closet.
What in the what do I where this shirt with.

And about 6 months later this is what I came up with.
Stripes? Dots? So many questions...

Colosians 3:1-4
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is,seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Lost in Translation

The fun things about this outfit:
Boots - Target, Leggings & Shirt - H&M, Sweater - Thrifted, Necklace - purchased in Basque Country

So this is an outfit I wore during my trip in Basque Country.
It was a chili night so I tossed a scarf on, but I promise that this photo has this outfit!
These are some of my lovely new friends that I will never forget!
I can't wait to see them all again in the future!

One of the funniest things about this trip was eating out.
The time it took for these girls to translate a menu for me was comical.
But they were so patient with me and eventually I did order food!

And it was delicious!

Anyone else ever been on a trip and just had to stop
and laugh at the language barrier?

1Timothy 4:7-8
Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Guest Posting: Winter Staples

Today I'm guest posting over at my sister Rachel's blog, My Wholesome Home.
Swing over and check out what I consider my closet winter staples.

2 Peter 1:3-8
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fire-In-The-Belly

The fun things about this outfit:
Scarf - from Basque Country, Sweater - HandMeDown, Pants - Old Navy (gift), Shoes - Target

Have you ever reached one of those moments when you realize something that you used to be passion-as-all-get-out-about somehow lost some steam along the way? Or at least your focus somehow got blurry for a bit?
I'm not sure about you, but in the seconds when I come to this astonishing shock I generally feel like I'm a failure - like I've let someone down - and like hope is lost to ever have the fire-in-the-belly I used to have about it.

About four and a half years ago I made a commitment to follow named Jesus.
I had a whole new outlook on life. Some strange new view of hope and joy shone a light on everything. I'm not playin people. I had road rage instantly disappear. (I know that's silly, but it was a silly way that He showed me I had hope.

But let's be real. Life is busy. Life is hectic. Life is distracting from the fire-in-the-belly.
Recently, as I've been spending time reading the Word and spending time with friends having great conversation, I'm realizing I need to stay focused. The burning love I had for Jesus in response to his burning love for me in 2009 should not fade or be back-burnered because I get busy. It should be the motivation and to my business. It should fuel my interactions with others. And it should be factored into why I put what I put on my calendar.

Do the activities I choose I'm involved in point others to Jesus?
I mean... I should ask myself that question every day. Because I might love doing this, or love doing that. I might enjoy this person or that friend. I might pat myself on the back or enjoy having someone else pat me on the back. But did I do it because I love Jesus and want Him to shine?

Jesus is better.

Philipians 4:19
And my God will supply every need of yours
according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Bunny Ears?

The fun things about this outfit:
Leggings - H&M, Boots&Socks - Target, Purse - Basque Country

My sister, mom and I have a thing... It's called LOVE.

Seriously, our bond is special. We don't agree on everything. In fact we've been known to have an argument or two. But I know that through thick and thin, I always have these two! They are such a huge gift from God to me. I am forever grateful to have them in my life.

All that to say, my sister {My Wholesome Home} lives farther away than I'd like.
Well, farther away than she'd like too. And I miss her.
So even for an hour of her flying through town... I take advantage of getting together!

In usual iPhone generation fashion, I asked a stranger to take some pictures of the 3 of us
jolly musketeers. After taking a couple, I jockingly kicked my mom out for a sister shot.
We caught her sneaking up behind us with a couple pairs of ...
You guessed it folks... "bunny ears"

Will it ever get old?

No really, I'm asking... Will people ever stop with the bunny ears?
Life questions people. Life questions!

LOVE THESE TWO!!!

Psalm 121:1-2
lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

Wishing for Sun?

The fun things about this outfit:
Shoes, Tank & Jeans - Old Navy, Necklace - Gift

Ok, as I sit here sniffling and wishing I could do anything but breath only through my mouth, I am really wanting some sunshine. I realize that's a long shot. I know it's not like me to relish the rain. But it's what my sinus' are wishing for. Sun!

So even if I can't get some sunshine, I thought I'd post an outfit that I wore while the sun was shining in Basque Country in early October!

Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
