Nominated & Accepted & Long Winded

I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award by Maggie at 2ndhand Knowledge
The what?
(That's what I said)
But I looked into it and it's this sweet lil' award that’s passed around the small blogger community. Every blogger who receives the award nominates 11 more bloggers who have less than 200 followers. I accepted.
So...Let's get going!

The Rules for Nominated Person:
1. Post 11 things about yourself.
2. Answer 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
3. Nominate 11 more bloggers.
4. Ask 11 questions for your nominees.

Fun way to check out other blogs don'tcha think? Good idea, to someone out there in the blog world!

PART #1
11 Things about Me
(because I haven't been blogging long, you all know very little about me. Photos below)
1. When I was little people always asked my mom if my sister and I were twins. (16 months apart in age).
2. I'm horrible at spelling (Praise God for whoever created spell check. Used Daily)
3. My mom is my hero. She single-mommed it for a huge chunk of my life and I cherish her deeply.
4. I really like to draw but I'm not super great at it.
5. I love Broadway musicals. (only seen 2, and not even on Broadway.)
6. I work for my home church as an administrative ministry assistant.
Love my job & Love love love my church!
7. I was once a pescaterian for 4 years (only meet I ate was fish & not sure if that's spelled right)
8. I grab hold of every opportunity I have to dress up in goofy costumes!
9. I chopped my hair off last summer for 2 reasons
(1. locks of love donation. 2. bucket list item: short haircut)
10. I'm trying to learn to cook & bake.
11. I deeply desire to marry a wonderful man someday.
Trying to Patiently wait for God to point him out to me.

PART #2
Answer 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
What is your favorite color to wear?
I love wearing black or tan(ish) colors. I know...Boring

How would you spend your ideal day?
In great conversation building friendships founded in Christ...while drinking coffee and eating brownies. Maybe in a lodge type setting by a warm fire on the perfect curl-up sofa.

What is your weirdest favorite food?
Cheese w/ Pickles.

What is the coolest thing that has ever happened to you or that you’ve done?
It might sound lame to some people but to me it is the coolest! For a summer month in 2009 I volunteered at a Young Life Camp and worked in housekeeping. I met amazing people and did amazing things. But most amazing and shocking to me, I met Jesus & accepted Him into my life.

mini, knee-length, midi, or maxi skirt – choose one.
Mid length. Not quite to the knees

How/when did you develop an interest in fashion?
Well, In 2010 I had a chat with God while I was learning about stewardship (in regards to money, time, & resources). He very clearly told me that I needed to take a break from shopping (shop-aholic at the time & not even a good one). He also very clearly told me 12 months even after I tried to convince myself I didn't hear that. So it began. I wanted a new thing here and there and I had to start creating it from what I already had. My creativity grew. I started following a few refashion type blogs. And the rest is history. (Update: God is good and my obsession with spending and splurging is replaced with freedom and understanding that all I "have" is truly His.)

Name three musicians/bands on your playlist.
Jimmy Needham, Jesus Culture, Caleb & Sol (check C&S out here)

Do you have a funny childhood memory?
For one of my childhood birthdays (somewhere between 7-9yrs old), my mom rented a pony to come to our house and give my friends and me rides around our city neighborhood! Oh yes. There were absolutely mother-made princess dresses being worn!

Biggest pet peeve?
Maybe people just do this in the burbs of Portland: When driving, & I'm waiting to turn a corner while a pedestrian walks across the street. Sometimes they stop in the middle of the street to wave me through... WHAT ARE YOU DOING WALKER PERSON? (that's what I want to yell.)
First, pedestrians have the right-a-way. So keep walking, for billybob's sake.
Second, I'm already waiting for you. Why would you stop and wait for someone who's waiting for you? That is nonsense. Weird. (glad I got that out of my system)

Favorite animal?
None. Does that sound so ungrateful for God's creation? It's not. I appreciate creatures and the magnificent Creator who so complexly and beautifully designed them. BUT, I don't really want them super close to me. Some, I'm scared of. Some, are way to hairy. Some are so dirty. Most are cute, I'll admit. But I'll look from a distance. Even if it's just a few inches. (They're cute! Hope I don't lose followers over that.)

Where would you go for your dream vacation and what is one activity you’d like to do while there?
I swear this isn't a cop out answer. It's just true. As long as I'm with amazing people I'd love any vacation. But Germany or Italy or Basque Country would be great! And what else. I want to shop while there. And eat their food. And I want to take in history! I took history for granted in school. I wish I remembered what they tried to teach me.

Ephesians 3:14-19
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

  1. Oh my goodness, Naomi, thank you! This was such a fun post getting to know you more! I love how much you love God and trust Him - such inspiration. And seriously, I've realized that anything even remotely involving Portland and driving is one giant pet peeve for me! It's almost comical.

Thank you again for the nomination, it means so much to me!
