Intense Day, Intense Wind

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Tank - Target
2. Skirt - Old Navy
3. Necklace - Hand Made
4. Bracelet - Yard Sale

Well yesterday was an intense day for me. I'm still processing it actually.
So I've decided to post these ridiculous outfit pictures (if you can even call them
outfit pictures) that I took a couple weeks ago now. Hopefully you all get a good
laugh out of them. I wore this outfit on a day that my mom and I went on a little
day date together! (LOVE HER).

When I've fully processed all that I took in yesterday I will try to put it into words.
So keep an eye out Monday or Tuesday for the low down on the day I spent
volunteering at the local High School as a facilitator in an event structured to
break down stereo types and so much more.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power
is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more
gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Chocolate & Bad Hair

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Skirt - Thrifted
2. Shirt - Target
3. Blue Necklace - Hand Made
4. Longest 5 bead Necklace - Hand Made
5. Shoes - Jessica Simpson @ Ross

Well, it's chocolate time....If you know what I mean - than you know what I mean.
I was craving a DQ blizzard for hours yesterday.
I finally left with only an hour to go in my work day. I zipped across the parking lot. (Yep, DQ is that close). Got my georgia mud fudge. and zipped back. How quickly it all happened somehow made me feel like it was all a dream, thus somewhat less guilty about eating the entire thing in 5 mins. Do you now understand? It's Chocolate time! Not to mention one of those days that I just needs to have my hair in an I-don't-care type of pony tail.

It's a good thing I didn't need groceries.
Who knows what I'd pick up while innocently wondering.

Romans 5:6-8
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good
person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that
while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Guest Post: Sara from De l'Etoile

Today I want to introduce you to one of my new blog world friends, Sara.
Firstly, here gorgeous long locks make me really miss my hair. Oh how slow you grow!
But enough about hair jealousy, I'll let her take it away before I get carried away.

SARA:
Hello, Patterned Love readers! I'm so excited to be guest posting today! I'm Sara,
from De l'Etoile. I blog about modest fashion, daily life, and random obsessions
(often centered around shopping). But enough about me, let's talk about SUMMER! Besides
sun tans and vacations, something I love about summer are the new trends coming in!

What I've noticed about this season is, if it has a lot of color, GO FOR IT! The bolder the better! Pretty much anything outside of black is fantastic. I love this so so much, because you don't have to add a whole bunch of items to your wardrobe of that one hot color. You can shop your own closet and still look fresh!

Today, I went for a more subtle approach to this season's color explosion.
I've been particularly drawn to light purples and bright reds recently, perhaps
because these colors haven't been too prominent in past seasons. With mint green and
oxblood dominating fashion spreads for the past year or two, I'm all for a little change!
How will you incorporate more color into your look this summer? :)

Memorial Day Wrap Up

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Shirt - Thifted & Refashioned (This post has a link for the DIY)
2. Sweater - Marshall's
3. Necklace - Yard Sale Score $0.75
4. Jeans - Buckle
5. Shoes - Shoe Cafe24

What do I think about Memorial day?

Ok, I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I'm glad there's a holiday to celebrate
those who serve this country. I wish it was more than yearly! Military service is dear to
my heart. My sister and her hubs are both currently in the Air Force. And my older brother served in the Navy for years
on an aircraft carrier. My mom, sister and I visited once when I was in middle school and
it did not look like a pleasant place to live months on end. All I'm saying folks is that I love
them. They are courageous and wonderful! And while some servicemen I've encountered
swore like sailors and behave in ways I may not condone, it does not discount the fact that
they are serving so that our country gets to continue our luxurious lives.

I'm not politically minded, and I for shiz don't claim to know all the
inner workings of our armed forces. But I do know that I am grateful
for them and their willingness to put their lives on the line.

Now...stepping of my soap box. I will give a shout out to my sister over at My Wholesome Home and say, I love you! So So SOOO Much! Thanks you for serving!

I called them all today to thank them for serving. All except my Afi (pronounced avee & Icelandic for Grandpa). I'll call him today because when I finally had time yesterday, it was too late to call... What time do grandparents go to bed anyways??

Guess what else I did today in their honor!

The most intense crossfit workout I've done yet. It's called "Murph" after a Naval Lt. who died in action. Here's the run down.
Run 1 mile
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
Run 1 mile.

Intense much?

Yes. And to in my final mile run, it poured buckets on me. Touche Northwest! Touche.
If you follow me on instagram you may have already seen this
snapshot of me soaking wet post workout. Find me at @patternedlove

P.S. I guest posted for Kristina yesterday! Check it out!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Life Lesson & Sail Boats

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Dress - Thrifted
2. Belt - Thrifted
3. Shoes - Thrifted
4. Necklace - Home Made

Ok I bought this dress at a thrift store and fell in love. The search for prints seems to
never be in my favor, so I couldn't resist picking it up! It was over sized a bit, and came
to a weird stop in the middle of my shin...but lo' I cut that thing off and hemmed it up
and now she's a beaut'
Or a boat?
Does that rhymes!
Am I more excited than a 24 yr old should be about rhyming?
(oh you sly nerdy sense of humor. get back where you came from)

Please. Let's move on.

Lesson of the day:
Never wait to eat until 2 in the afternoon.

Yesterday I found myself needing to leave for church before I ate breakfast.
I admit it was a good reason: I was trying to get a post done for this her' blog,
but still....HUN....grrrrrr....eeeeeeee (that was my belly aching). And the snacks
at church are typically sugar loaded, which isn't all bad, but I'm trying to eat
healthier so sugar probably shouldn't be the first thing in my system to start the day.
So with eight and undisclosed high number of cups of coffee,
I trudged on with my morning.

You know that feeling when you're hungry for so long without
doing anything about it that you forget that you're hungry?

ME NEITHER!

(I want it to be noted that at this point of writing this post...I grabbed a snack)

(and lost my train of thought)

(so I guess I'm done and will close with a verse)

Matthew 6:31-33
Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Life: Farmer's Market

Well, the time has come!
My local Farmer's Market has now been open for 3 weeks and our small historic
downtown is booming with shoppers every Saturday morning. This puts a serious
stress on, if I ever wanted to go hang at my favorite coffee shop (right at the entrance
of the market) on Saturday's (good thing I tend not to).

I'm not going to lie, I was waisting time scrolling through old pics of when I lived with my friend and watching her daughter grow, and next thing I knew an hour had past and I was still sitting in my pajama pants at 10AM. (Let me be clear, this is perfectly acceptable on a Saturday, it just isn't normal for me! So you go right ahead and keep sleeping in my friend! No "shame on yous" coming from me.)

A friend calls me up at the exact moment I'm feeling a little lazy from sitting for an hour slumped over a screen, and she tosses out a, "Want to meet me at the Farmers Market? I can be there in 10 minutes"

PANIC.

I'm in my p.j.s and my friend with two kids and pregnant on the verge of bursting is already up and going for the day with her kids ready to go and packed up in the car.

All I could do is tell the truth.
"Um...Yes...but its going to take me a littllllllllle longer than 10."
I tossed on the first clothes I saw, wrangled my hair into something that somewhat resembled a human head. And I'm pretty sure I only put make-up on one eye.

Before running out the door, I took a look at my counter and refrigerator to see what I needed....EMPTY? What the What? Who ate all my produce? How long have I been living without produce in my house? (Taco Bell you crafty little, distracting minx)
Needless to say I was sure glad she invited me because I needed some serous shopping.

This was seriously so fun. You always run into someone tons of people you know while you're there. And you never know what sort of things you'll see being sold from week to week, or what kind of people will be walking around. I found some great stuff, but unfortunately it's still a little early in the season and I had to stop by a grocery store on the way home to find what I didn't snag at the market.

P.S. I can't end without telling you I snagged these shades at a thrift story for $1.

Leviticus 26:3-4
If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them,
then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall
yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

3. Belt - Thrifted
4. Shirt - Thrifted

I'm loving any sun I get these days got last week.
I thought I'd tell you why I love summer,
in hopes those heat rays will show their face again.
I know it's still May but It feels like summer when the sun comes out!

5 Things I Love about Summer
1. Fresh smell of mowed grass! You know you love it, too.
2. Sundresses E're Day! - I'm a dress girl over shorts any day.
3. Frolicking - Don't judge. I take every open field opportunity I find!
4. BBQ - I love me some hamburgers and lawn chairs... Yes, you CAN invite me over!
5. Inspiration - I know it sounds silly, especially because I love rain the same as I love sun
but for some reason summer puts me in the mood for DIY & other crafty projects.

Did I miss anything? Fill me in on why you love summer?

Hebrews 13:20-21
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us
that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Let Us Eat Cake

The fun things about this outfit:
1. Sweater - Hand-Me-Down
2. Scarf - Gift
3. Jeans - Buckle
4. Boots - Target

Well...
I made a cake.

I've baked a cake twice before completely from scratch.
Both were chocolate.
Thus, delicious!

Of of those cakes was this past Mother's Day. It was so good! A little dense, but still good.
It got my baking juices flowing and I was thinking what else I could make!
Then I did what any professional baker rookie would do. I bragged!
I instagramed and pulled out my phone to show people my beautiful chocolate cake!

What did they do?

They asked me to bring one to our little mid week group gathering.

I couldn't bring the same exact cake. I had to try to expand my developing skill set.
So I plunged head first into the world of... yellow cake.
Not nearly as appetizing, in my opinion, but it would have to do.

The end result was a lemon yellow cake with strawberry filling and cream cheese frosting.
And I do think my bragging will rear it's ugly head once again as I tell you that
I made it all 100% from scratch!

Neither is particularly beautiful, but both are yummy!
And I'm banking on getting better at the whole decorating thing with time!

Psalm 16:11
You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
